The Elements

Magic in Elara consists of six elements, each of which draws energy from the planes and manifests in the material plane as everything from lightning bolts to conjured creatures.

Fire
Water
Earth
Air
Light
Shadow

Magic Across Classes

Magic is abundant and all classes wield it in some form. Each class has access to 4 of the 6 elements and they have spells within each of these elements. Melee focused classes (Warrior, Ranger, Rogue) have 3 levels of spells per element while Magic focused classes (Sorcerer, Druid, Necromancer) have 5 spells per element.

Element Levels

As your character levels up, you gain element points which can be used to increase the level of one of these elements. Increasing an element’s level unlocks access to new, more powerful spells. Characters don’t receive enough element points to unlock all possible element levels for their class, so choices must be made.

There is another way to raise your element levels and that is through grouping. Every character has an innate element, chosen during character creation. Each member of a group shares this innate elemental power with fellow group members. Therefore, a Sorcerer whose innate element is fire, would grant +1 fire element levels to all members of their party. Your own Companion (but not the Companions of others) also grants you +1 element levels of their innate element. When you summon or morph your Companion, choosing their element allows you to set this element level bonus.

Important Note: Bonus element levels from people are only granted to you if that person is in the same room as you. If you split up (or someone falls in battle), the bonus element level is immediately removed.

Spell Levels

While Element levels unlock access to a spell, a spell’s effectiveness is driven more by your level in a spell itself. Just like skills, using a spell will increase its level over time. You can see which spells you have access to and your progress toward the next spell level in each by typing spells in the game.
