Goliath
"Titanic, Competitive, and Unbreakable"
Starting Attributes
Physical Traits
Goliaths are mountains given form. Standing between 7 and 8 feet tall, they tower over most other races. Their skin is gray or brown, mottled with darker patches and bony plates known as "lithoderms" that act as natural armor.
They are almost universally hairless, focusing all their biological energy into muscle and bone density. Their eyes shine like chips of blue ice or polished granite. Despite their size, they move with a deliberate, practiced economy of motion—never wasting energy, never stumbling.
Social Interactions
To a Goliath, life is a competition. Every action—be it climbing a cliff, crafting a sword, or debating philosophy—is a challenge to be won. They keep a mental tally of their deeds and those of their companions. This is not out of malice, but out of a deep desire to prove their worth to the herd.
They are brutally meritocratic. A leader who fails to lead well is replaced instantly. They struggle to understand the concept of inherited nobility or social class; to a Goliath, you are only as good as what you can do right now.
World View
"The mountain does not bow to the wind, and neither do I."
Goliaths value self-sufficiency above all else. They view reliance on magic or technology as a potential crutch, though they respect those who master it as a skill. They believe that pain and hardship are the chisels that sculpt a strong soul.
Fair play is essential to their worldview. Cheating in a challenge invalidates the victory. They make excellent allies because they will never stab you in the back—though they might constantly remind you that they are stronger or more skilled.
