Sylvan
"Wild, Ancient, and Entwined"
Starting Attributes
Physical Traits
The Sylvan are the physical embodiment of the forest's will. Their skin often bears the texture of polished birch or rough oak, and their hair resembles cascading vines, moss, or autumn leaves that change color with the seasons. Some even sprout small antlers or flowers from their brows.
They are of average height but possess a deceptive density, much like hardwood. Their eyes are solid orbs of deep green, amber, or pitch black, reflecting the light of the moon. While they can bleed, their blood is a thick, golden ichor that smells faintly of pine resin and honey.
Social Interactions
Sylvan communities are not built; they are grown. They live in the canopy of massive Elder Trees, connected by a network of roots and pheromones that allow them to communicate silently over vast distances. To a Sylvan, the individual is less important than the health of the "Grove" (their community).
They are wary of industry and fire, viewing the stone cities of Humans and Draconians as dead scars upon the land. However, they are not savage; their wisdom is deep and ancient. They speak slowly, weighing every word, for they believe that speaking is a form of spellcasting that shapes reality.
World View
"The stone crumbles, the iron rusts, but the seed endures."
The Sylvan view time not as a straight line, but as a great circle of growth, decay, and rebirth. They are natural enemies of unnatural machinery that some Factions experiment with, seeing them as perversions of the natural cycle.
They wander the world to spread life, often leaving trails of blooming wildflowers in their wake. They seek to remind the other races that civilization is merely a guest in the house of nature, and guests should be respectful, lest the house decide to evict them.
